In August of this year, ISIS destroyed the Temple of Bel, a 2,000-year-old monument in the city of Palmyra, Syria. The Institute for Digital Archaeology, the organization responsible for the Million Image Database, plans to construct 3D printed replicas of the temple's entrance arch in Times Square and Trafalgar Square. The IDA, which aims to use 3D imaging to preserve historical artifacts, says that the replicating of the archway will send a powerful message that anything the terrorist group destroys can be rebuilt.
