Question Best type of 3D printer for printing scale models?

    Hello,

I am new to 3D printing and am currently looking into getting my first printer. I am looking to use the printer to print parts for scale models. Does any one else use you printer for this and what printer is best for me to get?

    Thanks,
    Coxy

What scale? For really small things, the limitations of the FFF printers will make the parts look pretty bad. A SLS printer would be best if you've got the budget for it, but otherwise, look into printers using photo-catalyzed resins, either DLP or SLA types.

    Hi,

Thanks for you reply. Scale is 1:32 and most bit would be around a 5cm square ish. Well look into some of those printers

If you decide to go the FDM route note that ABs can be cold-welded and can sand to a nice finish.
