The University of Alabama's Office of Archaeological Research (OAR) uses the most modern technology to bring the past into the present, so to speak. 3D technology plays a large role in the organization's work. 3D scanning and printing is used to replicate historical artifacts, but more intriguingly, 3D modeling has been used to virtually reconstruct villages that no longer exist.
