Tiniest Picture Ever is Printed Thanks to Nanoscale 3D Printing
Guinness World Records Limited has just named ETH Zurich and their spin off company Scrona Ltd. as the official World Record Holders for the smallest inkjet-printed colour image. The image, about the same size as a cross-sectional area of a human hair, was created using new 3D NanoDrip printing technology. The technology works by depositing individually colored quantum-dots (QDs), like an inkjet printer depositioning color inks, at a resolution of 25'000 DPI, of the inter-pixel distance of 500 nanometers. Scrona is offering custom printed micro-images by backing their new credit card sized electronic microscope called the µPeek currently being sold on Kickstarter.
