Toshiba Metal 3D Printer - Coming in 2017

Toshiba and its machine tools unit, Toshiba Machine, have announced that they have developed a prototype for a new metal 3D printer that promises to be ten times faster than most metal printers on the market today. The printer, which Toshiba also says can print larger objects at a lower cost than other metal printers, will be unveiled at a Tokyo trade show at the beginning of December and should be on the market by 2017. well it's not ten times faster than existing metal deposition machines. Just the sls powder cube types.

But the powder cube types can print shapes that metal deposition can't - so you can't make a direct comparison anyway.
it's all relative :-) (my phrase of the day)
