    WillowFlex Compostable Filament

Berlin-based BioInspiration has 16 more days to go in its Kickstarter campaign to raise $9,152 for its new compostable filament -- WillowFlex. Made out of "compostable electrometric bioplastic" with a base component of non-GMO corn starch, this filament is heat and cold resistant, flexible, and will be available in 10 colors. BioInspiration is close to its fundraising goal, and for $28 USD or $44 USD you can get either a 300g or 500g spool of WillowFlex. You can also get voting rights to help decide the last 5 of the 10 colors that WillowFlex will be available in. Sounds like an excellent deal all around. Additional details on this new filament can be found here: http://3dprint.com/89579/willowflex-...nter-filament/

so it's basically pla, with some marketing spin applied :-)
pla is mostly made from corn starch and is compostable to the same degree.

Curious about the heat resistance though.
Claims it's good to over 100c - the article writer said you could print a tea cup - yeah, who wants a flexible cup full of very hot liquid ? lol
    Sometimes people just don't think.

So what's it printing temp ?

wow - says extruder settings 175-185 and
WillowFlex is able to maintain integrity at temperatures in excess of 100 C.
    Now that genuinely IS innovative.

Still not sure about a flexible coffee cup, that said with 4-5 shells and solid infill it should be pretty rigid. - but when globalfsd get this stuff in stock I will definitely be trying it.

wonder if these guys will be at tct september ?
Might get some samples there :-)

German filament manufacturer BioInspiration recently launched their inaugaral filament line, the compostable WillowFlex filament, after a successful Kickstarter campaign. To try out some of WillowFlex's capabilities, the company printed out some Star Wars models and found that they were very conducive to biodegradable watercolor paint. Don't tell Darth Vader, but his helmet is now compostable. Check out more details at 3DPrint.com: http://3dprint.com/114939/bioinspiration-willow-flex/
