How to make a transparent object?

    Hello everyone

I've just started to use my Makerbot Replicator 2X printer for a week.

The object is not transparent and is not completely filled.

I set the layer height is 0.2mm, infill layer height is 0.2mm, infill 10%.

    Thank you for the help,
    cto

You will need to fill it completely to stand any chance, 10% just puts a skin on top and bottom with some strands in the middle and even then you will not end up with something that is like a lens.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.
Do you mean I need to set the infill as 100%?
And, do you know how to make the lens to be transparent?
    Thank you so much.

    Yes, infill 100%.

If you learn how to make things transparent it would be good to know. I used a full 1kg roll trying to do it.

At best I think you will only get translucent results, full transparency would require no bubbles or gaps between layers and the way fused deposition works there will always be gaps. So far the best print I was able to produce was a single width (.4mm) 'blade' for a trophy representation. Each 'blade' printed very quickly but it still suffered from banding and lack of true transparency.

You need to infill it 100%. Also, what material are you using for printing? If it helps, you can have it printed over a transparent resin to achieve the transparency you desired.
