Zeni Kinetic Launches Spools For Schools Filament Program

What's the biggest expense now-a-days for 2D printing? The ink of course! The average 2D printer will use approximately 400% of it's cost in ink refills over it's lifespan. Up until about a year ago, this wasn't the case with 3D printers, as the hardware was usually over $2,000. Having said this, 3D printer prices have been dropping rapidly in the last couple years, and now the filament can cost quite a bit more than the actual printer.



3D Printers and education go together like the Apple computer and education 25 years ago. Within a few years most classrooms could have a 3D printer in them. The only thing holding back this idea is the fact that the cost of filament can add up quickly. This is where Zeni Kinetic comes into play. They have launched their "Spools For Schools" program in which they are offering discounts as high as 50% off for their filaments to educational institutions. Zeni Kinetic is a 100% American owned company. Not only that but 100% of all their production also occurs in the US.

Wow, that's awesome. I can't see how they are even making a profit offering their filament at prices this cheap. Perhaps they are doing it for the publicity though....

Well I that's sort of the point of having a non-profit organization. When you're that passionate about the future of 3D printing being in schools, it's a small sacrifice to make.
