Libraries are going the route of 3D Printing - And it's mostly FREE!

So many libraries around the US and across the globe are starting to allow visitors to use their 3D Printers. Most of them are either free or only cost a few dollars to use.

My son made a presentation on 3D Printing Technology to a group of libraries in Delaware and they plan on ordering half a dozen printers.

Yeah, I think it's awesome that municipal governments are granting libraries money for 3D Printers. It's the future, so why not let the public have access to them, no matter how wealthy they are?

I'm the director of a suburban library in Philadelphia, PA. We received an LSTA grant to set up a maker space & digital media lab and have 2 3D printers (Replicator 2 & 2x). Right now we are just using it in workshops but after I get more staff trained in it's use may have certain hours available on the floor for people to use it in the library. Just working out the logistics. Had a great program last week introducing a group of kids to 3D printing and how to use the MakerBot and this week we will be plunging into TinkerCad. We're the only library in our area with this technology so I'm sure it will bring more people through our doors as word gets out.
