While Apple has not yet made any significant move toward the 3D printing/scanning space, it seems like it might be just a matter of time. At the beginning of 2014, the company filed a patent, which was issued this week, that might hint at some of Apple's intentions to enter. The "Texture Capture Stylus and Method" patent awarded to Apple represents a multi-functional stylus that could function as a possible 3D scanner of sorts, capturing the surface texture of an object in three dimensions and usable as part of CAD technology.
