At one point in the past, the quagga roamed the South African plains in large numbers. The horse and zebra-like creatures were easily identified by their half plain brown, half striped hides, and it's thought that the last of the beasts died in an Amsterdam zoo during the summer of 1883. Now researchers and technicians have completed one of the few remaining skeletal examples of the rare artifacts with 3D printing at the Grant Museum in London--using 3D imaging and printing to replicate the right leg and create the missing left leg.
