In 2008, Christopher Beer fell in love with the bagpipes. He learned how to play and eventually created his own chanter, a reduced version of the melodic element of the bagpipes used for practice. After acquiring a 3D printer, he wondered if it might not be possible to create a nice sounding practice chanter that had been wholly 3D printed (aside from the reed). Upon completing his design, he created a YouTube video that demonstrates the quality of the sound from the little instrument and he has plans to continue to refine and improve upon his design.
