Out in the country between Brandenburg and metropolitan Berlin, BioInspiration is taking the first steps into what the company calls “Organic Material Evolution.” Their idea is that the development of materials and processes they're working on will follow nature’s lead and result in compostable, upcyclable, harmless, innovative, and resilient 3D printing filaments. Their first product, WillowFlex, uses a base component of non-GMO corn starch. The result is an elastomeric bioplastic made from compostable raw materials which have met the requirements for ASTM D6400 and EN 13432 standards for compostability. WillowFlex is now on Kickstarter, with a goal to raise €8,450 by September 1. You can read the whole story here: http://3dprint.com/84250/willowflex-bioinspiration
