Jiangxi Investment Co., Ltd., based in eastern China, has been working since 2012 to create a robot to assist the elderly with in-home care. The robot, now in beta, is expected to go into production this October, with various models to become available in prices ranging from about $800-$3,000, to help monitor and interact with the aging population. Modeled after the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, the friendly, familiar looking robot is named 好兒女 (translates to "Good Child"), can monitor its owner's health via blood pressure, blood sugar, and body temperature, even sending location to family members in case of emergency.
