Conrad Farnsworth’s not your ordinary gadget inventor and his latest project submission to MakerBot Thingiverse is hardly your ordinary gadget. Farnsworth’s 3D-printed Geiger counter, made with electronic components from SparkFun and 3D-printed parts produced on an Ultimaker 2, is a less costly version of the handheld analog Geiger counters on the market. Geiger counters, which detect radioactivity or ionizing radiation, are an integral part of the electrical engineering and nuclear energy “fusioneer’s” work in restoring nuclear energy as a viable alternative energy source.
