When a gas cylinder exploded at his home in Guatemala, Welmer Cordova, just 6 years old at the time, was horribly burned and two of his sisters were killed. Now 20 years old, he was recently preparing to suffer through his 30th surgery at Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston to deal with his disfigurement partial disabilities. But when John Walsh, a librarian in nearby Newton, Massachusetts, with extensive experience in 3D printing and design heard Cordova's story, he printed the young man a prosthetic hand.
