Bart Taylor of NecropSynth has set a high bar for the project: he says nothing less than changing the face of anatomy education in the United States and the world will do. As it stands, the preservatives used to prepare subject animals for lab work are carcinogenic, expensive and require trainees to wear involved and uncomfortable personal protective equipment. Taylor says that, aside from the practical concerns, there are moral and ethical concerns inherent in using living organisms for lab testing. That's why NecroSynth plans to use 3D printing and design to build “a model so complete that it can exceed what can be done with a standard, preserved organic sample.” You can read the whole story here: http://3dprint.com/71825/necropsynth-3d-printing/
