Gary Erickson loves stained glass, but has found that the creation of the real stuff is pretty time-consuming and difficult--and he's developed a way to 3D print faux stained glass with truly impressive results. Using "Paint.net" to edit photos of designs downloaded from the internet, Erickson uses BMP2IGES to turn it into an STL file, then follows up with Netfabb Studio Free and Repetier to get the files ready to print on his Solidoodle 3D printer. The entire process is quite thorough, and you can read about it--and check out some of the designs, now also available via Thingiverse--in the full story: http://3dprint.com/64311/3d-printed-stained-glass-2/
