    Extruder Noises

    Hey All,

Bit of a weird question, but does anyone else's extruder (greys style) tend to make an odd click or noise? I've run about 300-400 hours on the printer with hardly any issues and I've noticed tonight an odd click noise. It doesn't appear to be feed related, as the print still looks perfect, nor does it appear to be speed related, as it's occurred on both low speed/flow and high speed/flow moves. It also doesn't sound like the dreaded stepper motor click either. The filament is the same colour/manufacturer that I've been running for over a month now too....it's just....weird!

Anyone else notice any weird noises or sounds coming from their extruders?

A loose hobbed bolt, or misaligned gears could do it...

Add some lube on the gear and see if that stops the noise. If it does you need to print a new set.

Well it looks like a new gear set is in order then. Base looks good though. I wonder if ABS gears would withstand wear better than the PLA gears.
