Letting Nature 3D Print This Amazing Furniture

Furniture designer Gavin Munro has developed a method of training trees to grow around specially designed molds so he can harvest naturally formed tables, chairs, lampshades, and mirror frames. Munro believes that this type of Botanical Manufacturing is a new and sustainable form of environmentally friendly mass production. Well, he said it's "new" "sustainable" and "environmentally friendly", he never tried to say it's practical.

That said, I actually like it. The finished product looks very unique.

Though it wouldn't look as good in the final product, the same technique used with kudzu might be able to make a crop of chairs in a week rather than taking years.
