The RepRap movement has led to a proliferation of increasingly high quality open source 3D printers. Slawek Koziol, of Poland, has always wanted to build his own 3D printer, and he recently set out to do just that with his company, X3D, and came up with the X3D XS CoreXY 3D printer. Featuring many 3D printed parts, a wooden case, and a fixed build platform, Koziol's 3D printer took just $300-$500 to build. His design files are available on Thingiverse for makers interested in creating their own version. The X3D XS CoreXY 3D printer features a 190 x 185 x 140 mm working area, with a box size of 358 x 341 x 316 mm; the machine uses a Rumba 3D board, has a full-graphic LCD screen, and features a heated print bed.
