A team of researchers from Ohio State University, led by Andrew Yoak, reassembled the skeleton of Willoughby the manatee for display as part of the Tetrapod Collection at the Ohio State University Museum of Biological Diversity. When they found that parts of the skeleton had been lost, they turned to 3D printing to recreate the critical missing elements. The entire project took more than 250 hours to complete and required clearance from the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
