    Case-Rap 3D Printer - 3D Printer/Suitcase

Jean-Luc Guillemette is among the makers who find 3D printing an all-encompassing hobby. In a bid to create his own easily transportable 3D printer, Guillemette turned to the RepRap movement, where he found inspiration in the FoldaRap. Using that as inspiration and the Mendel 90 as a model, he created his own portable 3D printer, the Case-Rap. The first iteration of his Case-Rap is plenty impressive, though Ghillemette already knows some changes he'd like to make, such as using Russian Plywood instead of MDF for the case. Iterations

I have made the #2 and #3 CASE-RAP, and have made some iterations...

First, I screwed the back panel on the other side. Like this it is easier to go from a position to the other as you don't have to hold the panel.

Then I designed a spool holder that also holds the back panel in place.

Finally I used 1/2 high quality plywood. It is much less heavy.
