GumJet - The Chewing Gum 3D Printer

Ok, it may sound a bit out there but a team of researchers in London have created what appears to be a relatively accurate Gum 3D printer. The machine prints out a gum resin mixed with flavoring to create pieces of chewing gum in any shape imaginable. The researchers are currently seeking patent protection for the technology behind the Cartesian-based 3D printer called GumJet. More details including a video of the gum printer in action can be found here: http://3dprint.com/44851/gumjet-3d-printer/

Below is a picture of some 3D printed chewing gum. What do you guys think? Would you eat 3D printed gum? Would you want a Gum printer?

To answer your questions in order: WHY, probably no, and hell no.
I mean, 3D printers are great, but... Just why gum?

Pretty much the same as Feign. Pointless in the grand scheme. But... and its a big one... if it could print other food products such as chocolate, cheese, fondant (used for cake and confectionary toppers), etc, then well, maybe. But thats a big maybe.

3D print a stick of gum. Nobody cares. 3D print an edible Gingerbread House, then it becomes interesting. 3D print a photorealistic chocolate bride and groom for a wedding cake, then you got some wow factor and profitability in the commercial sense.
