Hi Luke:

OK. If I can find suitable springs and figure out the minimal disassembly required, I'll give it a go. Thx!
Does anybody have experience with any of the anti-z-wobble solutions for the i3v?

My thinking is probably unnecessarily limited, but this is why I use ABS:
The primary use of my printer is for making custom cutting tools (mostly fancy cookie cutters) for pottery/ceramics work I...
Heh..., feel free to throw this suggestion in the trash bin... ;)
The question you are asking is pervasive and eternal in the tech world: Should I wait for "Device N+1"?

Long time no update.
I've been running with the original wood y-bed for around a year, and was living with the warping, since it was just missing direct interference with anything.
For a long...
Agreed..., but it is a special case in the code, so might be worth testing the combined as well the individual homing operations.
Small update:
I paid attention to z-movement at the end of the past couple of prints.
There is no z-movement during the end-of-print homing operation. FWIW, I'm homing XY with separate G28...
Hmm (again). In ROBOCOP's case, the G28 X0 Y0, if that is the actual gcode being used, should not create any z-movement at all.
MBL is disabled during most homing moves, but even that should...
I'll check out MESH_HOME_SEARCH_Z, in the meantime, I wonder if the z-correction is being inappropriately removed/discounted during the homing operation...
It'll be interesting to see what happens when I upgrade my y-bed to aluminum..., on the off chance that'll change thermal response in a way that triggers the default thermal runaway protection...
First comment: On or around line 369 in Configuration_adv.h, it looks like you can uncomment "//#define LCD_PROGRESS_BAR" to restore the functionality I think you mentioned.
Second comment: ...
I don't recall changing anything in config.adv.
The process is to first go through the regular mechanical leveling, setting the z-stop in the xy home position, and making sure that the other three...
I can share my current Configuration.h.
It is compatible with the RCBugFix branch of Marlin as of this writing, though you should review the diffs before applying them to your system.

Since it's "upgrade" season, I decided to give Slic3r 1.2.9 another go. I was quickly reminded why I ran back to 1.1.7.
A problem many people encountered with 1.2.9 is best documented in this...
I use the extended version of the clough42 shroud combined with a not commonly used (but easy to install) HE fan shroud that assists with reversing the HE cooling flow from the stock setup.

Reporting back, with a slightly off-topic follow-up. So...
I too have been running w/ Marlin 1.1.0RC5 with printbus' config settings. Two main observations:
1. The primary advantage to this...
Have started the experiments. Using "fine-positive-features" as the test piece.
First test is with the super-slow profile I use for my pottery cookie-cutters. The next will be with that profile,...
Firstly, thank you!
It's funny..., when I was transcribing Makerfarm's stock config settings to Marlin 1.1.0, the Z settings really stood out. I'm not sure I correlated them with any particular...
Just to reinforce printbus' comments:
Reversing the airflow on the Hex HE is a big win.
Allowing significant build plate heat soak time, ditto.
The only persistent caveat I've encountered has...
No problemo..., ya pointed me in the right direction for sure.
I notice there's a recent commit that sets Arduino 1.6 as the lower limit..., heh..., if only I had waited a day!
One "final"...
Since you're running with a Windows machine, perhaps my comments don't apply, but...
I use Pronterface on OS/X, and I have a RUMBA. Also like you, Arduino worked fine going from Mac to RUMBA. ...
This exact behaviour was observed by others when building with Arduino 1.0.6. The problem "magically" goes away when building with later versions of the Arduino IDE. I installed 1.6.8, and voila,...
Alrighty.
I did a pull on the current RCBugFix and the problem persists.
Interestingly, the file I initially tried to print does begin with a number..., but it appears I can select any file and...
Follow-up: not sure if I should post this to a new thread...
First: Tried manual mesh leveling. It appears to be working. I wasn't 100% certain after the leveling operation whether I needed to...
