What material and what temp are you using?
Anyone have a chance to try out MakerBots new Experimental Extruder or the Tough PLA?
It's still there on my 5th gen. I looked at the release notes and it says the moved and re-titled it on the Rep+, but they don't say where they moved it or re-titled it too...
Replicator+: Moved...
I think you could achieve some satisfying results. As for the marble, if you printed in ABS you could smooth it out with acetone and it would be shiny and smooth. Painting is also an option. You...
That is indeed, a 'cool' job!
Depending on what CAD software you modeled it in, there might be a way to patch holes and fill in the voids with that software. What did you model it with?
Just published my first Thing and thought I would share it here since I printed it on my 5th Gen Replicator.

In case anyone is curious - The z-offset setting is in the Device Menu under Device Preferences.
Spectacular miss there! It's funny that it actuallydoes look like it printed fine. So how does that happen, not homing correctly?
What temp are you printing at? It almost looks like it's too hot, but if it's jamming it's hard to say. Could be the spool is tangled too - Is it hard to pull through the tube when loading the...
I have a 5th Gen Replicator and it doesn't print as well with Print, I still use Desktop and it seems to connect better and print better too. You should still be able to find a link for Desktop on...
That IS a satisfying sound.
Did you try re-slicing?
So if you go to the product page for that knob - next to where is says Product Description is a tab Product Downloads. Click that and you can download the Datasheet - there's some dimensions there at...
Did you have one in mind or an example you could show us?
If you're looking for some typical knobs and other hardware, McMaster-Carr's website has CAD files for a lot of their catalog.
Usually, if...
That's rough. Not much you can do about Makerbot Support, but what I would recommend is using that $100 and buy a Smart Extruder+. They're normally $200 but if you own a replicator you can get 50%...
210c is in the right neighborhood - if you're getting good results I would just get a spray can of some clear coat in a matte finish
I bet she was a headstand champion!
Well, here's a few ideas:
Did you get the latest versions of Makerbot Desktop AND the Firmware?
Also, you could try connecting the printer to the computer with the USB cable.
Thanks for the suggestion! It printed out fine - must have just been a previewer issue.
I was wondering if that might be the case - I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
Greetings fellow designers,
I'm having an issue when I slice my .stl file and check out the preview, it looks like the slicer isn't completing the outside perimeter. If I rotate the model on my...
Between Solidworks and Autodesk Inventor - Either of those options will be a solid choice. I've used just about every major CAD package and they all do basically the same thing - they might just have...
In fact, it works surprisingly well! I use a wood burning soldering iron that came with maybe a dozen or so tips that get screwed on. Once you dial in the right temperature, you can smooth, cut or...
Good to know - Thanks!
