An update on my heating bed challenges. Sometimes after preheating and starting the print the bed temp runs away rather than the bed not maintaining heat. My current work around is disconnecting...
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep it in mind. I've only printed PLA using a bed temp of 65.
Something odd might still be going on. I haven't changed anything other than using D9 instead of D8...
My D8 stopped powering my heatbed tonight. D9 works, I don't see any burns on the side of the board I can see, I assume it's the same terminal issue others have reported.
I went with the hexagon to have more filament options. It's a 3mm, I read on the internet 3mm is easier to start off with and more forgiving.
Nope, I haven't, but I'll do that and put a couple of Z couplers on my shopping list. Thanks!
I've noticed that when I do tall prints, my Z axis ends up being noticeably no longer level. Is this something the metal Z connectors could help with? I assume I'ld want the 5mm to 8 mm ones?
Thank-you for sharing your work, looks awesome, I'm in process of printing the parts.
Screws, bearings, and springs are my biggest concern. Maybe motors too. I've already got the hobbed bolts,...
Those sound like ABS temps to me. I use 65-60 for the bed and 185-181 for the head. I've been printing on a layer of blue painters tape. The only times I've had problems with not sticking there...
Thanks printbus. I've got a 0.4mm hexagon for 3mm filament.
Anyone have the wrench sizes for the M5 nuts and the eccentric spacer please? Upon stetting up again I notice that my X carriage can giggle and need to get it tighter, I think that might be causing...
I haven't installed one, but it is in i3v RAMPS Install http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieBwDM1qxAA 12V
Greatly enjoying the new z stop, wasn't going to do anything till after the move, but then saw the Rosetta comet obj ( http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-29482548 ) one thing led to another...
Thanks guys, was hugely helpful. I did it hot and got some good results. I've printed Clough42's z stops and will do the improved fan after a move.
Thanks gmay3, I used pronterface as you described and sure enough there was a problem with my x-axis not moving as much as it should, the reason is it didn't have the set screws in it! Ran another...
Started test printing (3 mm) with hollow cube, things were hard and slow going until I put a load on the 5v (with a fan) of my Antec VP-450 450 Watt Power Supply. I've included some pictures of the...
I suspect this might have been the case, having plugged everything back in everything seems A-OK now.
Disconnected the stops, steppers, and therms then I get the 2 green LED flashes and the LCD displays and the USB device power warning goes away. Looks like there must be a short in one of those,...
2775 pic of my wired power plug as requested.
Thanks gmay3, ya I've got the connection made on the ATX, i've used an ATX as a power supply before so was expecting to need to do so.
Yes, TopJimmyCooks, I've got 11A and 5A wired up as described...
A injury slowed down the build, but finally managed to get everything together. Finished up the wiring tonight, but it seem like RAMPS is getting no power? I've got a magma head so the fan is wired...
I'll be making use of some of the things you've posted here on my build. Thanks!
Good info, I've destroyed hardware swapping wires, so I'm hesitant to do so. Knowing that this is safe is useful, thanks.
So jealous, mine shipped May 8th, is still in route.
Have you put any thought to uploading this to thingiverse.com?
You're right, thanks!
