The people printing recommended 0.1mm gap in the part sizes. This makes a 0.2 difference in diameter (i.e. 0.1 x2) which, once one has done some light sanding does seems to be too much in practice. I...
Oh - so are you saying that if I don't sand a part at all, then (and only then) there would be a sporting chance that I could paint onto it?
I already have a couple of other parts already on...
This appears to have been a false alarm. My 3D printing service seems to have been looking for excuses!
Although only a couple of months out of Beta testing, Onshape seems to have been behaving...
Hello
Background:
I am new to 3D printing. I need to create a prototype for a product that will ultimately be made from PE (Polyethylene/Polythene). I have just received my first 3D prints back...
Can you say any more about that. (I seem to be running into slight problems in my STL files ...)
Out of interest what swung it for Fusion 360 for you?
I went with the 3D Connection Wireless Spacemouse. I found the interface pretty confusing to set up, but I found if you "Reverse" absolutely everything it's use suddenly becomes amazingly intuitive....
UPDATE: Just a note to say I am getting on extremely well with OnShape, which is now out of Beta and has a reasonably generous free account.
Onshape is a 'professional' grade parametric solid...
UPDATE02
For better or worse I am now trialing Onspace (which is now out of Beta before you ask). So far it feels "slick but not easy", but I am a total newbie so probably doing everything all...
TBH, Fusion 360 feels slightly bloated to me, with poorly structured menu-ing and I started to get confused by the different modes of operation. And the explainer videos seem to take forever. ...
Bobby - brilliant list. Many thanks! Sadly SolidWorks seems to cost well over $1000 and is completely out of the question for a (very!) lean startup like me.
One thing: I am currently evaluating...
Update: I have spent much of the delay following training videos of Fusion 360. I am rapidly falling out of love. There are seemingly endless special menu options you need to click on in order to...
Onshape is now out of Beta.

Here's what Onshape say here:...
Thank you - yes I am trialing Fusion 360 now...
UPDATE: I spent most of today following Fusion training videos. I am rapidly becoming disenchanted by Fusion. It has a very cluttered interface...
I am strongly tempted to go for something more 'parametric' - e.g. did you ever try Onshape
After fighting with Sketchup for many hours this video rather blew me away! ...
Hello
I need to decide which free (or nearly free) 3D modeling software to use for 3D printing.
Background
I am new to 3D Printing. I need is a very low cost/free solid modeler which ideally...
That's the one - thank you.
Fwiw, I was looking for it under Right-Click view...
Sorry to be thick but is there any way to change the amount of perspective (what we are given by default seems...
Hi
Have any of you tried using OnShape for 3D printing?
Does it export reliable STL files?
Background
I am new to 3D printing but I was quite impressed by a video I saw demonstrating it's...
Hello
Is there an alternative user/support forum for DesignSpark Mechanical?
Background
I just installed DSM. However I immediately hate the default view - which does my head in because no...
