That sounds like it could end in disaster if you were not very careful with part heights.
I find it hard to believe the extruder is the problem. It only puts material where it is positioned. I think there might be a issue with the drive system but I'm in touch with MB so we will see...

I've had really good success using hairspray on the removable build plate to eliminate the lift problem. Did you have the heat on in the chamber?
