Jman - instead of waiting for Ulti 2 Ext., why not check out the Fusion3?
I know its more than you want to spend, but Fusion3 has 12x12x12, heated bed and dual extruders for under $5k. Even at that price, best printer for the $
If you're looking at Ultimaker, better check out Fusion3's printers. I've never had a problem with mine and print quality and speed is off the charts.
