How Reebok Using 3D Printing to Protect Our Heads

For generations, athletes from boxers to football players have suffered from the effects caused by traumatic blows to the head, and the gatekeepers of the sporting world like coaches and administrators are only now taking action to minimize the damage done. Athletic gear manufacturer Reebok were made aware of the problem on a visit to a conference on traumatic brain injuries to athletes, and they were moved to set to work on a product that would help track when those injuries occurred. They came up with the CHECKLIGHT, a system that registers and records blows to the head. Gary Rabinovitz, the head of Reebok's rapid prototyping laboratory, says 3D printing was critical to creating a product to help solve the problem. You can read all about the design process and how 3D printing made it possible here: http://3dprint.com/33258/reebok-chec...-for-athletes/
