Andrew Hessel is a distinguished scholar, genetic engineer, and biologist who is combining his research, theory, and imagination with the new technology of 3D printing to manufacture a 3D printed virus intended to kill cancer. Working at the Audiodesk science lab known as the Pier 39 facility, Hessel is capable of taking data and producing DNA with it. While he can 3D print a virus, now he needs to produce a cancer-fighting one, with the hopes that in the future this type of oncolytic therapy will be available to patients who will have free, customized treatment.
