wireless printer adapter??

this is something i had on my head for some time now, can you use a 3d printer via wireless/bluetooth conecction? this is because i have too many printer conected to my Mac and i thats the only machine i used at the moment (yeah i got 4 printers running), and i have seen too many bluetooth adapters on the web nowadays, but again im not sure it will work, and before some people said, just tryit, i dont own a 3d printer yet, its still coming to october. any idea people??. cheers

Try Octoprint (octoprint.org). A raspberry pi connects to your control board which you can then connect to from any other device over wireless.

I've been recommending Raspberry Pi for a while now as a solution for this, but there have been problems reported with the performance of the Pi when printing directly from Octoprint (as opposed to loading to the SD card and using Octoprint to kick off and control the print). What has been suggested is to use something like the Beaglebone, which has the edge on performance. If you're just using Octoprint to load onto SD and print from there you're golden with the pi.

Neither the Pi nor any of its alternatives would be particularly good at slicing, though.

We tried beaglebone black. It has the edge on processor speed but, believe it or not, it is much weaker on graphics resolution.

Actually im waiting for the craftbot printer, so i Will have to wait for it, anyway i guess for a beginning i would have to use the USB reader yet i Will have to plug it to the Mac sooner or later, Card readers tend to stop working so fast, specially with the ammount of work i have (yes i want this printer for comercial use), until then i Will Check both options, just in case

I bought a Tl-WR703N, that is a one cheap access point. If hacked properly it can support USB/IP and that will give you wirless USB. You should be able to transfer g-Code over it, however this is basicaly serial. So it wont be fast. For that portion I am planning on a Toshiba Flash Air II sd card that has wifi, however unlike the myfi cards, it allows both pull and push. I figured I connect it to my access point and upload to it that way. You can use your pc to directly push gcode to the printer. Once pushed you can use the lcd to start the print. Not a bad solution.
