There was a bit in Scott Adams autobiography where he said that no matter how over-the-top he makes his comic to try to get a laugh, it seems reality gets more and more rediculous to make it the comic look normal.

Of course, when I saw both of these, I thought "I swear, if someone tries printing themselves a girlfriend..."
