    Pancake 3D Printer, The PancakeBot

We have already seen several 3D food printers. From chocolate, to sugar, to pizza, 3D printing is slowly going to creep its way into the kitchen. One man named Miguel Valenzuela has created a 3D printer for pancakes, the PancakeBot. The printer uses an Arduino board, and a couple of Adafruit motors to print out anything the user desires out of pancake batter. Valenzuela has not revealed any plans of commercializing this device yet, however you would imagine that there could be quite a market. Check out the video below of the PancakeBot in action. What do you think? More details: http://3dprint.com/3943/pancakebot-pancake-printer/

It seems like with a complex print it would not cook very evenly, as the first line would be burnt by the time the last line is put on the hotplate. Also, this seems like it's not very 3D, what with pancakes being notoriously flat and all.

Perhaps a printer that extrudes the batter and has a ducted heat gun that cooks the cake batter in place just enough to hold it's shape, and then the whole thing goes in the oven at the end to finish cooking evenly? You'd probably be able to feel the layers in the cake as you eat it, but that might be kind of good.

    Just a thought for improvement.

Here is a photo showing what this thing is capable of. Not sure if anyone would actually spend the money for this thing, but I suppose restaurants may.

Some people DO waffle on about new applications for 3D printing.

    Update!!
PancakeBot 3D printing is about to come to a kitchen near you — finally — as they have teamed up with Storebound to take the high-tech devices to market for breakfast epicureans everywhere. You can take a simple recipe and turn it into a really cool design, using the software to draw anything from the Eiffel Tower to animal faces and then watching the batter get extruded onto the hot build plate, cooking quickly, and heading on to your breakfast plate. The 3D printer has evolved over almost five years, beginning with the original pancake stamper. Read more about this soon-to-be-available pancake extruder in the full article: http://3dprint.com/40971/pancakebot-storebound-partner/

Below is a photo of the newest PancakeBot and some of it's delicious creations:
