In May, Vector Space Systems, headquartered in Arizona, launched a successful test flight of its Vector-R launch vehicle engineering model. The Vector-R, which features a 3D printed engine injector, was built to carry small payloads into space. This week, Vector had another successful launch - its full-scale Vector-R prototype rocket for micro-satellite space took flight at Spaceport Camden near the Atlantic coast in Georgia. The primary purpose of the test flight was to test the Vector-R's 3D printed engine injector, which was developed through a collaborative research program with the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center after Vector won a grant from NASA's Science, Technology and Mission Directorate (STMD) Flight Opportunities program.
