Things like this really make me excited about 3d printing. An organization called Urban Hubs has teamed with 3D systems to create what they hope will be a network of recycling friendly makers, who can change the world.

Urban hubs work by connecting the 3D printing enthusiasts with the locals in a town, and those people who dig through the garbage in order to make a few extra bucks each day. The way it works is quite genius. You can 3D print out a bin which snaps together with other bins and creates a hub, which can than be placed on a telephone pole, or other area, and used as a repository for bottles and cans. Instead of having to dig though the garbage, these people can now just take the items out of the hubs and redeem them for cash.
