On Tuesday at SOLIDWORKS World, we talked with Rob Bodor, Vice President and General Manager of Proto Labs, a company that has really come into its own over the past couple of years in terms of 3D printing. A rapid prototyping and low-volume production facility, Proto Labs began significantly expanding its 3D printing capabilities in 2015, and it's paid off, though the company has no plans to abandon its other manufacturing processes, such as CNC machining and injection molding. Proto Labs just introduced a new insert molding process to expand its injection molding capabilities, and also released its fourth quarter and full year 2016 financial results, which are positive overall, and particularly in the 3D printing area.
