Looking to alleviate the 3D design copyright issues that have plagued the 3D printing community, a new startup called D3CRYPT3D is aiming to safeguard 3D assets and intellectual property with their newly launched software. The proprietary D3CRYPT3D software is centered around encryption, and instantly alerts the artist if any unauthorized parties attempt to access their 3D model or product, displaying a calling card that features their contact information, which helps to promote the creator’s work while also preventing unauthorized downloads. Currently in beta, the D3CRYPT3D team plans to release the first version of their software by the end of the year, and is also working towards developing it into a web-based application.
