Scandy Partners with pmdtechnologies to Launch Scandy Pro App for Android
Known for their affordable and professional quality 3D scanning technology, the New Orleans-based company Scandy is partnering up with pmdtechnologies to launch the Scandy Pro app for Android. With a consumer-grade Android smartphone and an attached pmd pico flexx ToF 3D sensor, Scandy Pro will enable users to 3D scan objects at the same quality level as professional scanning equipment would allow for. Scandy Pro is capable of capturing features as small as 0.3 millimeters with a .25 meter bounding box and 36 millimeters with a bounding box of three meters in size, while users can also use the app’s on-device editing for quick cropping, resizing, and more. Is that 36 mm a typo? Usually scanner resolution is proportional to volume, so I'd expect something more like 3.6 mm resolution with a 3 meter bounding box, if the .3mm resolution in a .25 meter box is correct. A scan with 36 mm (1.4") resolution would be pretty useless for anything.
