Researchers at Penn State University are developing a new method of bioprinting that could eventually be used to create cartilage patches for worn out joints - a potential cure for osteoarthritis. Unlike other forms of bioprinting, the new method does not require a hydrogel scaffolding, instead relying on strands of cartilage that are grown from cells and then used as, essentially, living filament.
