    Spiderweb

    Hi all,

Not quite sure what this problem is called (I'm a newbie to 3D printing). Just bought a da Vinci Jr 1, set it up, and followed instruction to print out my first shape. Seemed to work fine whilst i was in the room. Came back after lunchbreak and this was the result.

no picture, but from experience I have a very good idea what you saw :-)

basically the print probably detached mid print and from there the printer is just extruding plastic in midair.

So you need to either calibrate a bit tighter, change the print surface or print the first layer slower - or a combination of all three.
Sometimes printing the filament a little hotter will also help.

The print surface is the supplied bed tape. At this stage, I don't see any documentation about calibration or changing the print speed, so I have to investigate.

    yep.

The davinci are really cheap for a reason.

If you do an internet search you should find plenty of info on gtting better prints and adhesion from one.
But calibrating is key as it determines the distance between the extruder and the printbed during printing.
