Upcoming Film Anomalisa Uses 3D printed Faces
The soon-to-be-released new stop-motion film, Anomalisa, features puppet-characters that show their seams, which are symbolic of their vulnerability in the face of life's big question: "What is it to be human?" Co-directors Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson also wanted to bridge the real/artificial divide in this adult-themed film, and so they used 3D printed faces to establish the puppet-characters' humanity. Johnson notes this was also quite a cost-effective choice, as 3D printing provides a higher level of detail. Anomalisa, scheduled for limited release on December 30th, is already slated to be a 3D printing cinematic classic. Read more at http://3dprint.com/108721/anomalisa-3d-printed-film/
