3D Printer 500 Times Faster Than Technology Today Offers, Coming Soon

Wow, this is pretty impressive. The Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Lab is working with Cincinnati Inc. to produce a 3D printing system capable of speeds 200-500 times faster than those printers out there today.

The partnership will also look at ways to print larger volume objects. Such an advancement will easily revolutionize the manufacturing sectors of the US economy.

I wonder what sort of innovation they will use to speed things up that much. I would think such a 3D printing system would need to have an entirely different mechanical setup to function that fast.
