FF Creator Pro with Makerbot Desktop - how to change startGcode?

I put this post in the Hardware forum but I think it belongs here or in the Makerbot one...

We just bought a Flashforge Creator Pro here at work. Also have a Makerbot Replicator 2X and an Ultmaker 2. I've been using Makerbot Desktop software for Windows (3.7.0.95) and it works quite well in general.

When the Makerbot prints, it extrudes a line along the from of the bed to prime the nozzle and the heads straight over and starts printing. Works great.

The FF does the same line, but then runs the bed all the way down and all the way back up before heading in to start printing. And every print takes a few cm before the ABS begins to stick. The priming line is perfect and it was extruding great at the end, but as the bed pulls away, it pulls ABS out of the nozzle and leaves this tall, thin spire, that gets collapsed (and melted onto the nozzle, grrrr) as the bed comes back up.

The Makerbot Desktop help says you can edit the "startGcode" and "endGcode" files somehow but I can't find them and can find any more info.

I know - long winded question...

Any idea how to change this behavior?

    Thanks!

The problem lies with Makerbot Desktop 3.7. Go back to 3.6 and problem solved. Newer isn't necessarily better.

I use much older one. Makerware 2.4. Still the best of the lot imo...

Thanks Sebastian! Now, do you know where I can get an older version - Makerbot.com only has 3.7 available. A little searching hasn't shown any obvious sources...

BTW, I was hoping you'd reply - I've found your posts in other forums to be helpful just in the one day I've been looking at them. =)

I tried 3.7 too. Was lacking in several areas, not just the issue you mentioned.

Thanks a bunch for uploading this. I've just installed it, and it's much easier to use than version 3.7. I have been informed, however, that I should use the left extruder for printing with PLA and am unable to see where I can change that setting.

PS - if someone has a Makerware .deb for 64 bit debian / ubuntu based linux a share will be much appreciated.

That's nonsense. You can use whichever extruder you prefer. The software defaults to the right one, that's all i.e. right = T0 (default) and T1 = left

In Makerware. If you have chosen the dual replicator as your machine you see a button on the left your screen marked 'object' (should be below 'scale'). Click on your part, then click on 'object' to choose the extruder you want.

In the main toolbar at the top click 'edit' and then 'settings' to choose colours for your extruders.
