Fuel3D Scanner To Announce Additional Funding

You may recall back last year when the Fuel3D scanner launched on Kickstarter. This was the start of what may end up becoming a rather large company. At the 3D Print Show in NYC this week, they intend to announce additional funding, over and above the $325k they got on Kickstarter last year:

The scanner is offered at a reasonable price compared to competitors and will turn 3D objects in the real world into 3D models on your PC.

Very interesting. So is the scanner already out or do they need additional funding in order to produce the units that KS backers purchased?

Saw it last night at 3D Print Show in NYC. Got my face scanned in a second and in high resolution. Blew me away. Seeing my likeness so quickly reduced to a 3D model was a bit unnerving.

Hmm, with vat it's £990 around $1600

And yes that is very cheap for a good hand held scanner.
BUT next year there are going to be a lot of intel based tablets hitting the market with built in stereo cameras and 3d scanning apps readily available to use them.
And even the top of the range piece of crap ipad isn't a thousand pounds.

I'll wait.

But if I were a business looking to see whether or not a handheld scanner would help - yeah I'd get one.

Mind you the matter&form scanner looked like it worked quite well at tct, which isn't what users seem to be experiencing.
