This week's stories we didn't cover show how innovative 3D printing can be. We begin with an inspiring story for fans of the children's building toy K'NEX since the toy has been used to build a 3D bioprinter than can quickly make biofilm. 3D printing is also contributing to building a super-sonic car. The Bloodhound, which will be on display in England this weekend, has many 3D printed parts that will hopefully contribute to exceeding the world land speed record to reach a whopping 1,000 mph. New Zealand has committed $39.92 million for new science and technology research that includes 3D printing development, and Queen's University's Human Media Lab has made great progress incorporating sensors into 3D printed objects. EnvisionTEC has released its most recent Perfactory Software, Version 3.1, and Prodways has joined forces with Hunan Farsoon High-Tech, to focus on manufacturing and distributing new plastic and metal SLS machines.
