3D printing software advice
Hi all,
I need to design a model that need to have precise real sizes in millimeters. I can design it in Solidworks that I already use that allow me to do this, but I also need to add some "design" to this model, that it's hard to do with this program. Another program I can use is Maya, but I didn't used it for a lot of time and I remember that I can't set nothing precise to mm(maybe now yes). Can someone advice me a solution?
I thought about exporting the base, if possible, from Solidworks to Maya or another 3D program and then finish the model and send it to fabrication, but this can create compatibility problems or inconsistencies. Someone have an easier solution? Or advice me a program that allow me design and millimetric precision?

You can generate both meshes separately and assemble them in meshmixer. Meshmixer allows you to fuse 2 meshes and also to resize and move a mesh easily, so you could adjust the maya mesh to the need. It is basic but that would fit your bill.
