Joris Peels, the community manager for YouMagine, says the 501 respondents who completed a survey on the site tend to be predisposed to caring about open source and open hardware for 3D printing, and that may skew the results of the survey towards experienced 3D printer operators (particularly Ultimaker users). Aside from those considerations, the survey, illustrated by designer Alexey Butakov, shows interesting results. For example, respondents revealed that the single most popular category of items printed by the site's users were household objects with practical applications, and the second most common category of items fell under the umbrella of 3D printer enhancements.
