Panasonic is making quite a splash into the 3D printing arena, but not with what we currently know to be the traditional scanning/figurine production process. The electronics giant is gaining attention at the Panasonic Center in Osaka with their 3D booth which features not one central scanning unit but instead employs 120 Lumix GH4 cameras working simultaneously, each firing fire within a 1/1,000,000th of a second. Once the data is captured, the subject of the ‘portrait’ can purchase the figurine for around $450.
